A. ICE&SNOW

because it's the same infrastructure same same core and we can basically connect it via btp in a much quicker fashion because it's the same thing and We Know It Works amongst the same chains essentially so this is something you mentioned that we're actively um at the same time while we're looking to get you know Ethan Finance matching out we're actively looking to integrate with Harvard as well right yeah that's exciting cool um okay it is it is uh exciting so okay I think we've covered all of that I really appreciate uh Min you just you've been quite direct you know it's not fluffed this is the way it is these are the things we're focused on this is how it's going to help so you're back now you finally got to go on your trip because um everyone knows like on a bit of a lighter note now well let's end things here um how did your trip go because this was your first trip in a while right yeah still a little Jack jet lagged um still not used to you a bit of traveling but um yeah I'm back from uh Korea and also visited Singapore um yeah had a pretty uh rough schedule I would say um as I get older I think is I'm realizing my body's just cannot keep up with back-to-back meetings and whenever you go to Asia there's you know a lot of you know like lunch meetings dinner meetings and drinks after so yeah it's been uh you know very very difficult on the body but but with that said I mean it's been an extremely extremely successful trip in my opinion where I was able to reconnect and learn from some of the brightest Minds uh in our industry and you know obviously I don't really go into the names of these people but they're very high profile and you know they entrust me with a lot of the information that they give me so um yeah you know I just wanted to maybe point out a few things summarize some of these kind of points that kind of repeatedly came along in some of these meetings um so I think the general consensus uh maybe I'll just kind of think about two or three uh kind of points um one I think the general consensus is that the regulatory environment here in the USA, Korea and also Singapore are all getting worse I think it's pretty evident but um I think for one don't believe the media the media is a political tool to attract young voters so they like to put they put things in a more more positive light or spend it in a more positive light but the underlying fact is that um there's a lot of a lot of um you know there's there's crypto in our industry is looked upon negatively by a lot of political figures and I think regular Regulators are you know coming down pretty hard especially here

(25:56) in the U.S but they are slowly getting harder and harder outside of the us as well so I do think that the climate is going to be a bit of challenging but you know there whenever whenever there's um you know hardship in one region there's opportunity in other regions so I think the name that's been popping out uh quite a bit is Dubai Dubai has been getting some love and uh which kind of confirmed that I sort of need to visit Dubai um and check out the scene myself you know there are exchanges and a lot

(26:35) of projects and a lot of developers have been moving to Dubai a lot of great Engineers from India have been relocating to Dubai to um you know work on what three projects so a lot of those kind of changes are happening in real time so two I would say Asia is becoming more and more important for uh real use case and Adoption of crypto um I think some of the Western World um here in the US we talk about uh different Technologies and different exciting things that are happening uh at an infrastructure level however when you

(27:20) talk about actually Building Services and bringing real real use cases you know Asia is a very is where a lot of that will happen and I think that's been sort of the prediction um that I've been hearing I'm thinking what kind of use cases like as an example uh no I think everyone's sort of waiting but you know some people think it's going to be games some people think D5 is going to be much more prevalent in in Asia and you know I would say it's kind of similar to how uh third world countries

(28:01) um in Southeast Asia that did not have broadband internet uh they totally skipped and went directly to mobile internet um I think I think we're expecting something similar uh where many thorough countries that don't have a very strong financial infrastructure you know it's an opportunity for them to skip and go directly into crypto so um so hopefully we'll see some of those similarities or yeah in the future third Trend I would like to kind of point out I think we've all experienced it here but you know the AI and chat GPT

(28:46) is you know it's been getting a lot of hype here in the US but even more so in you know countries like Korea Korea I mean I've I've met you know I have a lot of you know people here in the US that use chat GPT but um people in Korea are you know I think one out of maybe five or four people that have been meeting are premium premium users so they pay twenty dollars per month to you know they are power users of chat and a lot of the startups that I've met within crypto and outside of crypto um are experimenting like different

(29:32) ideas and different products so what does this mean for what three and crypto I mean there's some mixed answers here but uh there are some mixed concerns about losing some quality talent to the AI industry in the short run um I talked to some startup um you know what three uh Founders who've you know actually lost uh some of their key employees to uh you know new AI startups and you know other AI projects that are you know kind of got them excited so you know whenever you see kind of a very exciting technology such as open Ai and

(30:15) chat GP to come into play you know it's it gets very difficult for other Industries to kind of retain talent and I think we're gonna see sort of more of that in the next in the short run so a bit of concern there but at the same time I mean you know the reason why I say mixed is that um you know I you know some of the what three investors are saying that you know still like although we are losing some key members to AI but overall the um the number of projects that's been you know continually coming into the web

(30:55) through space and the new talent that we're seeing in the space uh outweighs losing talent to AI at the moment so I mean I don't have any data to kind of point that out but which is the reason why I'm kind of using the word mixed yeah I guess one last uh I guess this is not a trend or learning but maybe it's a learning but you know after three and a half years of not going to Korea not meeting uh some of these key people and meeting them for the first time you know I was kind of pleasantly surprised that you know icon

(31:31) is still highly respected you know amongst the industry peers and leaders in Asia you know again like much more than I sort of expected um and you know many of our community members um you know probably won't believe it either but you know it's I think it's very important that you know we we do have like core members of the founding team of Icon still sticking it through and continuing to build after five years which is you know quite a long time in our industry so you know the sort of the story or the narrative here is that

(32:12) every two to three year you know two to three years a new layer of one comes a new narrative you know comes into play new projects for race more Capital than the previous one and you know a lot of our the founders leave and you just don't see many 2017 projects that are still actively building today so um I think you know when I go and meet uh some of these people I think they are very pleasantly surprised themselves that you know we are still building and you know I think that gives them a lot of trust and uh kind of the future of Icon and

(32:52) the and the people uh that we have within this project so um I think we're uh it got me very motivated and very proud of that and the other part is you know I do believe that we are building the right way and we are sticking to the eat those of decentralization you know we've done a very good job you know staying out of trouble from regulators and like all of that like Risk Management wise like we've been doing a very good job not being affected by FTX or Terra or 3ac or any of these like incidents

(33:30) um so I think we've done a very good job uh navigating through like a lot of uncertainties and ups and downs of this industry so you know basically we got a lot of words of encouragement and I think you know it motivated me um it motivated our team so I think we're in a very very good spot there okay great to hear that last last bit made it feel like it could establish new relationships and opportunities for Icon as well um based like the trip basically enabled that you getting that touch Point getting out there getting to talk

(34:05) and establish that yeah um hopefully may open up more opportunities um cool okay I think that was you said three quick points but you really went into you know detail in each of them which was great which is really good I love hearing about stuff like that I even like when I went to Korea blockchain week um I enjoyed chatting with people in the industry and definitely getting everyone's take on what's hot you know right now what where the industry is moving and you know back then the terminology was 2.5

(34:48) um web 2.5 not web 3.0 um but in that light I mean is there anything you notice because part of your conversations you would have met well anytime I've been anything around crypto there's always some kind of venture funds or something to do with that and it very much sounds like um you you spoke to a lot of people in in those areas as well did they did they note any 2023 trends that they're picking up for for the crypto space that they were genuinely interested in um I mean there were some like kind of

(35:24) the same themes I mean I think ZK is quite big right now I've been gaming uh Triple A games take a long time to develop so you know we'll see if any of these actually you know gain any traction finally uh this year or next year so I think people are just sort of waiting um I think you know some of the uh themes around kind of restaking products and you know oh yeah or you know I I do think like I can't really kind of think off the top of my head but um some of these themes sort of Replay and you know I but at the end of the day I

(36:11) think uh what everyone is looking for is sort of the next narrative um what is sort of something that uh that they've never heard before that they've never seen before so although I think each of these VCS and investors have sort of a list these are sort of a list that is you know quite obvious it's been you know shared amongst other VCS that's been published on you know the block or massari so you know I I think these are uh just kind of common themes but what everyone's really looking and looking

(36:50) out for is that uh what is sort of the next um you know what is the next narrative that's going to be you know kind of it's that's going to give some energy back into uh you know this industry so we'll see yeah messages across blockchains that's the next scenario interoperability is still um today I think interoperability obviously still uh we're still in you know the first inning I would say um I think that for the people who know really knows that you know a lot of these uh you know there's a lot of problems with uh

(37:35) Bridges uh centralized Bridges um so it's not just about total value locked or how much you know what it is today but it's more about what it's going to be you know what's going to come in the future so you know there's a lot of you know people looking at new type of uh interoperability projects that's kind of coming into play as well and obviously um you know we're into space and we feel quite confident and the more people we talk to we feel more and more confident we just need to actually get into production and I

(38:12) think show it uh at some point but yeah it's been uh uh yeah it's been good yeah no okay great I mean I have taken enough of your time I really appreciate um you jumping on these monthly updates a great Community loves them as well so once again thank you and we will chat well you'll be chatting to David next month yeah okay cool thanks man take care bye [Music] thank you [Music]
